You can also make money through YouTube Premium, which is YouTube’s subscription service that offers ad-free viewing and exclusive content.
Another way is through product placements, which allows you to showcase products in your videos that the company pays for.
This can be a great way to make money early on, as you can choose what products to place in your videos and how many products to place.

How Much Can You Realistically Expect To Make From Monetizing YouTube Videos?
The amount of money you will make from monetizing YouTube videos depends on many factors.
This includes your number of views, your channel’s niche, and the type of ads displayed.
Let’s say you have a channel with 5,000 subscribers, and your average video gets 10,000 views.
If all those views were monetized with pre-roll ads (which means they’re ads before the actual video starts), then at $2 per thousand impressions (CPM), you made $20 for every 1000 views or 2 cents per view.
If we assume each video gets an average CPM of $2, all videos are monetized by pre-roll ads only (which isn’t always the case).
Here’s how much money YouTubers who create content in different niches can realistically expect to make in 2022 and beyond:
- Gaming – $0-$1/1000 views, but can go up to $5/1000 impressions if done right with the proper equipment.
- Cooking – $0-$3/1000 views and beyond.
- Finance – $10-$35/1000 views and beyond.
- Traveling – varies wildly depending on the country visited (I’ve seen people make anywhere from nothing to several thousand dollars per month from travel vlogging).
7 Proven Ways To Monetize Your YouTube Videos
One of the primary reasons people choose to create YouTube content is because it’s free.
However, other ways exist to monetize your videos and make money from them. Here are seven proven ways to do this.
1. The YouTube Partner Program And Monetize With Ad Revenue
The YouTube Partner Program is also known as YPP.
It’s a way for you to share in the advertising revenue that runs on your videos if you want to display ads on them.
There are also speculations that the YouTube algorithm favors videos with ads as they make YouTube more money, but I can’t verify this.
If you want to monetize your videos by sharing in the advertising revenue, some requirements must be met first:
- You must be 18 years old or older
- You need more than 1,000 subscribers who actively watch your content (a subscriber is someone who has subscribed to your channel)
- You need at least 4,000 hours of watch time across all of your videos over the past 12 months; YouTube Shorts doesn’t count!
You will also need to have a Google AdSense account. This is how you get paid for ads being displayed on your videos.
YouTube will send you money based on their ad revenue from viewing your video.
2. Use Affiliate Marketing And Monetize Your Links
Affiliate marketing is a way for YouTube creators and other content producers to make money off their audience, and it’s my preferred monetization of choice.
It works by signing up with an affiliate program or platform, which gives you access to products and services that match your niche.
Viewers who click on the links within your video descriptions are taken to the product page of whatever item they clicked on.
This generates money for both parties: you get paid by the company that owns that product (often at a percentage rate), and they get new customers who are referred to by you.
There are many ways for a YouTube creator to use affiliate marketing effectively, and it’s a no-brainer to include it on any YouTube channel.
3. Create Product Review Videos
Another way to make money with YouTube is by creating product review videos.
These are generally more popular than the average video and can be a great way to increase your revenue.

The only important thing is that they’re relevant to your audience (or potential customers).

You don’t want to get involved with companies that aren’t reputable or sell products that could be harmful to people if they’re not used properly.
Also, be clear about how much revenue this will generate so you’re not wasting time on something that doesn’t work out well in the long run.
5. Sell a digital product or a course
This is a good strategy if you’re looking to make money from YouTube without relying on advertising revenue alone, and I highly recommend you use several!
When selling digital products and courses, there are various things that you need to consider:
Make sure your product is valuable!
You want people who buy your product or course to feel like they made a great decision when they click “buy.”
If not, you won’t be able to convince them to come back for more later on down the line (and trust me—you will want them to come back).
Choose an offer that appeals directly to your audience.
For example, if most of your followers are teenagers and young adults, then maybe an ebook about college life would be a better choice than one about gardening.
6. The YouTube Super Chat feature
The next step is using YouTube Super Chats.
Super Chat is an optional feature that gives viewers a chance to pay to have their message highlighted in chat when you do live streaming events.
The basic idea behind Super Chat is that as a viewer, instead of just typing out a message and hoping that someone sees it, pay for that message to be seen.

Tips For Increasing Your Earnings From Monetizing YouTube Videos?
It is important to understand the relationship between views, watch time, and impressions to increase your earnings from monetizing YouTube videos.
If you can increase any of these three factors, you will likely see a corresponding increase in your earnings.
Views, of course, are the most important factor. The more views your video has, the more money you will make.
But there are other things to consider, such as the quality of your content, how often you post, your click-through rate (CTR), etc.
When you clearly understand how these metrics work together, you can look at how they affect each other and adjust accordingly.
If you can get a lot of views on your videos, that’s great.

So how do you find these keywords?
You could start by brainstorming a list of words related to your video’s topic.
Then jump on YouTube and start digging around your competitors.

- How many views do they get?
- What are their subscriber counts?
- How often do they post?
- What topics are they talking about?
- What kind of tone do they use?

You can’t go wrong with the tried and true formula of “engaging, relevant, easy to understand, and easy to share.”
You know exactly what your audience wants from you.
Your audience is at its highest point when they’re engaged in your content—whether it’s a video, an article, or some other form of media.
You want them focused on your video and nothing else.
That’s why I recommend you keep things simple:
Ensure there aren’t too many elements in any video or piece of content that distracts from the primary message being conveyed.
If someone spends more time figuring out what that thing is supposed to be than listening/watching/reading whatever it is you’re trying to say, then chances are good they’ll move on to something else.
How Often Do You Need To Upload New Videos For Effective Growth?
One of the most common questions I get from people who want to start making money on YouTube is, “How often do I need to upload new videos?”
From my personal experience and from what I’ve noticed from other influencers, uploading new videos is necessary but not essential.
The more you upload, the more likely you are to be found by new viewers.
While this is true, it’s also important to remember that there are no shortcuts when monetizing your videos.
You need to be consistent and patient if you want your channel’s growth curve (or your income) to skyrocket in the long term.
What Kind Of Videos Are Most Likely To Be Monetized Successfully?
While you might think it’s all about content, the truth is that certain types of videos do better than others regarding monetization.
Here are some examples:
- Videos longer than 10 minutes in length—because if you can keep people engaged in a long-form video, more ads will be shown, resulting in more revenue.
- At least Full-HD resolution (1920×1080)—videos with higher resolution look better on mobile devices or laptops and tablets, so viewers will be more inclined to watch them all the way through. Entertainment is key on YouTube, and quality helps with that.
- Well edited – this goes without saying; if your content isn’t professionally edited, then how do we know whether or not you’re worth listening to?
Common Mistakes To Avoid When Monetizing Your YouTube Channel
There are a few things to keep in mind when doing YouTube.
Don’t use copyrighted music or images
This is a big no-no because it can get you in trouble with the law, and YouTube takes copyright issues very seriously.
This includes using music from famous artists (even if it’s just playing in the background) or images that are owned by others.
A fantastic solution is to use copyright-free music from trusted sources.
Don’t try to be too controversial
It’s important to remember that your content is going to be shared on social media platforms where people will see it and potentially share it themselves.
So if your video is too controversial, some users may not want their friends to see them watching something so risque or inappropriate on other people’s timelines!
If this happens often enough, YouTube might even ban your channel from monetizing altogether (and no one wants that).
Don’t use too clickbaity titles
While clickbait titles effectively get views quickly, they won’t help build lasting relationships with viewers who may otherwise become loyal subscribers over time.
Loyal subscribers generate higher revenues than casual viewers do!
Suppose the YouTube algorithm catches wind of what you’re doing. In that case, they could penalize all videos associated with those channels across the board.
